Yuletide: C’River Youth Commissioner and brother celebrates women group.

 

The Cross River Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Ijom Ukam, Esq., in collaboration with his elder brother, a frontline philanthropist, Engr. Ekpei Ukam, has in the spirit of the yuletide hosted the Erei-Ise-M’ise Women Association, a formost social political women group in Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, by donating food items with cash gifts to them.

The distribution of the items which took place Saturday, 2nd December, 2023 by the association at the family residence of the Honourable Commissioner had saw the forum rejoicing over the magnanimity of the youth Commissioner and the renowned philanthropist, whom they said gave them hope of celebrating the Christmas.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Ijom said the gesture was borne out of the need to express love to our mothers in seasons like this, while assuring them of his more continuous supports and that of his family, for the sustainability of the forum, even as he commend the forum’s love, peace initiatives and unity of purpose.

“It is our modest contribution to our mothers whose unceasing prayers, love and supports has been impactful to us and a way of giving back to the society by also fostering love”, the Commissioner remarked.

Earlier, Engr. Ekpei notes that there is no political undertone in his gesture, as the aim is to reach out to the women forum that has been upholding the unity, peace, as well as the culture of the Erei Nation.

“The government is doing its job as best as it can. However, we don’t have to leave everything to the government. As trying as times are, it is not an excuse not to share love, especially this festive season”, Engr. Ekpei notes.

Later in an exclusive chat with the legal adviser of the Erei-Ise-M’ise Women Association, Mrs. Comfort Ogban Iyam, she paid a glowing tributes to the exemplary leadership qualities of the Commissioner’s family, noting that the association are appreciative of their gesture and would continue to uphold them in their prayers for more greater achievements.

Hon. Rose Ometu, the secretary of the forum, as well as other executives of the association also offer their goodwill messages by extolling the Commissioner and brother’s gestures, describing as unprecedented since the inception of the association, praying God continue to bless and protect them.

Other highlights of the celebration galore was singing and dancing of the Erei-Ise-M’ise Women traditional dances.
