The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey Ph D, visited some schools in Calabar Municipality today.
The first visit was to the NYSC Secondary School at about 8:30 am, where the Commissioner on arrival met the Principal, Mr Etim Nsa Essien and some teachers on duty, he noticed rowdiness and unkempt environment, he emphasised that conducive learning environment positively affect learners outcome as he further encouraged the students to be good ambassadors of Cross River State, stating that His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu, Executive Governor of Cross River State is determined to transform the Education sector, the teachers were also charged to live up to their responsibilities.
In a related development, the Commissioner also visited Margaret Ekpo Secondary school, he addressed the students and teachers and frowned at overcrowded classes and lateness because at about 9:26am, students were still coming to school; the teachers were charged to be of good behaviour as students look up to them as role models. The School Principal, Mrs Cecilia Ogar, in her vote of thanks commended the Commissioner for the visit, while thanking Governor Otu for the free WAEC registration for Cross River State indigenes.
