The Cross River State 2024 Appropriation Bill has been read a second time on the floor of the State Assembly and referred to the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation for further legislative action.
Leading the debate on the bill, the Member representing Odukpani State Constituency and Leader of the 10th Assembly, Rt Hon Bassey Asuquo expressed delight that the proposed budget size of about 250 Billion was quite realistic and realisable
He commended Governor Bassey Otu for priotizing sectors like Education, Health, Tourism, Infrastructural development, Security, Environment,Agriculture and Youth development adding that this will positively impact the lives of the citizenry.
AIso speaking, the Member representing Abi State Constituency and Deputy Leader of the Assembly, Rt Hon Davies Etta, stressed that the budget will adequately address the challenges facing the State including Agriculture,
Infrastructural decay in educational and health sectors as well as address rehabilitation of roads.
Majority of the Members who contributed to the debate opined that the sectors highlighted for emphasis are people oriented in line with Governor Otu’s ‘People first’ mantra.
The Lawmakers unanimously voted for the second reading of the bill following a motion moved by the House Majority Leader and seconded by the Deputy Majority Leader.
