The State Assembly has in a motion of urgent public importance, brought before the House by the Member representing Bekwara State Constituency, Hon. Charles Omang Omang, urged the State Government to, as a matter of urgency, direct relevant Security Agencies to ensure the fast and safe release of Prof. Patrick Egaga from his abductors.
The motion also seeks to “mandate the State Government to as a matter of urgency, procure, GPRS tracking devices to facilitate the tracing and arrest of the Kidnappers, as well as make provisions for adequate equipment to the relevant Security Agencies to stand down the incessant kidnapping in Cross River State”
Members in their separate reactions, lamented the total lack of facilities for police checks and patrols across the State.
The House, however condemned in its entirely, the incessant kidnapping incidents in the State, maintaining that no one is safe.
Addressing Journalists after plenary, the sponsor of the motion, Hon. Charles Omang Omang, said he is calling on the Executive through the 10th Assembly to facilitate the
on-conditional and the safe release of victim, Prof. Patrick Egaga, who is a Senior Lecturer with the University of Calabar.
