The Cross River House of Assembly, has adopted resolution to mandate it’s Committee on health to investigate the activities of the Cross River State Ministry of health, on the collapse of effective health care delivery in the State.
Presenting the motion in the floor of the 10th Assembly, the Member representing Yala1 State Constituency, Hon Odey Brian Wonah, in his prayers, Called on the House to as a matter of public importance, investigate the activities health of the sector,, which he says has collapsed.
He noted that all health related activities in Yala General Hospital, Okpoma, have collapse, as well the State in general.
Odey added that the situation is same, as every Member is complaining about the deplorable state of the health facilities across the state.
The lawmaker emphasize the need for the State Government to deploy Doctors,and other health personnel to Yala hospital, noting that his constituents are dying as a result of the lack of a functional health care facility to attend to patients.
Members while contributing to the motion, maintained that Yala is the second most populated Local Government in the State without a functional health facility. Members also lamented that the current communual clash between Yala and part of Benue State, were victims are injured on daily basis, without health care, does not speak well of the State.
