The Ministry of Education, Cross River State warned that illegal schools operating in the state that fails to comply with the operational guidelines and those operating but are yet to apply for revalidation risk being closed.
In a statement on Wednesday 22nd November 2023, while inuagurating the taskforce in his office the Commissioner for Education Senator Stephen Odey Ph D, said those with Approval To Open (ATO), but failed to comply with the revalidation guidelines will face losing their (ATO), if not revalidated and those illegal schools, without (ATO) will be sealed.
The Commissioner for Education encourages defaulting schools to urgently meet operational guidelines to avoid being delisted and losing their ATOs by February 29, 2024 deadline.
The Ministry of Education will continue with a comprehensive clean up of its database to enhance transparency and compliance. Recently the Commissioner has received many petitions about some illegal schools in the state that are operating under a horrible environment jeopardizing even the health of the pupils and students using quack teachers.
According to Senator Odey, enhancing conducive teaching and learning environment, uniformity and integrity of our schools in the State is crucial as the administration of Governor Bassey Edet Otu is determined to transform the Education sector holistically.
