GOVERNOR OTU ATTENDS RT HON HILARY BISONG’S COLLOQUIUM IN CALABAR, PRAISES HIM FOR EXEMPLARY LEGISLATIVE REPRESENTATION

 

The Executive Governor of Cross River State, His Excellency, Senator Apostle Prince Bassey Edet Otu, was represented by Senator Associate Professor Stephen Odey, Commissioner for Education Cross River State, at the Rt. Hon Hillary Bisong’s colloquium themed ‘Lawmaking and Constitutional Democracy: The Nigerian Experience.’ The event drew prominent personalities, both federal and state legislators, Senator Eteng Williams, Senator Florence Ita Giwa, Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem, Deputy Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon Agabi Sylvester, Members of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Members of the Cross River State Executive Council, Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Calabar, Professor Florence Obi, former Speaker Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon John Gaul Lebo, captains of industry and several top government functionaries, graced the occasion.

Senator Odey, representing Governor Otu, chairman of the occasion, highlighted that His Excellency, the State Governor, has navigated the legislative landscape at both the Federal House of Representatives and the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. On behalf of the Governor, Senator Odey thanked Rt Hon Hillary Bisong, Chief Whip of the Cross River State House of Assembly, for his exemplary representation, which includes the sponsorship of 8 substantial bills and counting. Senator Odey noted that effective lawmaking involves making laws that have a positive bearing on citizens’ lives, and he urged colloquium participants to capitalize on this opportunity, featuring a distinguished panel of speakers, to acquire new knowledge.
