The Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, on Saturday, May 10, officially flagged off the electrification project in Mbube Nation, located in Ogoja Local Government Area.
Governor Otu, widely known for his “People First” mantra, was represented by the Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency, Mr. Francis Ekpo , Addressing traditional rulers, youths and some residents, Mr. Ekpo reiterated the Governor’s commitment to expanding infrastructure across all local government areas in the state.
“This electrification project clearly shows Governor Otu’s commitment to delivering on the People-First Agenda. We urge the people of Mbube to work closely with government agencies to protect and maintain this infrastructure. Vandalism will not be tolerated,” Mr. Ekpo said.
Also speaking, HRH Buturo Ndum Peter Ejue, who represented HRM Oti Mathias Abua Odey, the Paramount Ruler of Ogoja. In his message, the Paramount Ruler emphasized the importance of community cooperation and joint security to safeguard government projects and ensure their longevity.
In the same vein, HRH Ntol Clement Asakpa of Ndok community assured the state government of local support in securing the infrastructure. He also appealed for the installation of a transformer in Ndok to extend electricity to the Three-Corner area, a densely populated zone still in darkness.
Also in attendance was the Special Adviser to the Governor on Power, Engr. E Nkpeh Emmanuel Eneji , who commended the community for their turnout and pledged continued collaboration between the state and local communities to fast-track rural electrification.
