Sen. Stephen Odey Salutes Workers on May Day, Emphasizes Role in Nation-Building

The Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator (Associate Professor) Stephen Odey, has extended heartfelt felicitations to workers across the state and beyond in celebration of this year’s International Workers’ Day.

In a statement released to the media, Senator Odey underscored the indispensable role of workers in driving societal growth and ensuring national stability. He noted that the true wealth of any nation lies in the commitment and hard work of its workforce.

“Dedicated workers deserve not just recognition on May Day, but consistent appreciation and fair treatment throughout the year,” the Commissioner stated. “Genuine wealth is the product of diligence, and it is vital for workers to also take time to rejuvenate so they can return to duty with renewed energy.”

Senator Odey, who spoke on behalf of the Ministry of Education, conveyed gratitude to teachers, administrators, and all categories of workers for their tireless efforts in building a better society.

Quoting civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr., he added, “No work is insignificant. All labour that uplifts humanity has dignity and importance and should be undertaken with painstaking excellence.”

He concluded by wishing all workers a joyful and peaceful celebration, reaffirming his commitment to promoting the welfare of education sector personnel in Cross River State.

“Once again, congratulations and happy Workers’ Day celebration!” he said.
