Gov. Otu welcomes Hon. Omang and supporters to APC in Bekwarra

 

The he Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, has welcomed Hon. Omang C. Omang, the member representing Bekwara State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, into the All Progressives Congress (APC). The Governor, who was represented by the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, praised Omang’s decision to defect from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with thousands of supporters.

Hon. Omang’s defection, which took place at the Bekwara Local Government Council Secretariat on Saturday, Omang who is the third memberif the House to join the APC in less than two days. The defection adds significant value to the ruling APC as it continues to consolidate power across the state.

Representing Governor Otu, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ayambem, acknowledged Hon. Omang’s character and praised his decision to join the ruling party. Ayambem described Omang as a man of content, noting that his decision to align with the APC was unexpected but highly appreciated by the leadership of the party.

“I stand here to represent the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu, a son of a nobody whom God has Blessed,” Ayambem said. “Hon. Omang’s choice to join the APC is a significant and positive step for our state. It is a decision we greatly welcome, and Omang can rest assured that the future is promising for him and his supporters.”

Hon. Omang emphasized that his defection was not meant to challenge the leadership of the APC, but to support and complement the ongoing efforts to improve governance in Cross River State. He expressed confidence that his supporters would also align themselves with the vision and work of the APC.

“I have not come to challenge the leadership of the APC, but to complement the good work they are doing, and all my supporters will do the same,” Hon. Omang stated.

Ayambem, speaking further on behalf of Governor Otu, assured Hon. Omang of full acceptance within the APC, stressing that unity, peace, and love would be the guiding principles moving forward. He noted that past political differences would not affect the party’s commitment to inclusiveness and progress.

“I am a free-spirited person who holds no grudges,” Ayambem remarked. “Party sentiments are in the past, and we now move forward as one. Everyone will be honoured equally, and peace and love are sacrosanct within our party.”
