In a bid to boost agriculture produce in this year’s planting season and support farmer produce, the Deputy Speaker of the Cross River House of Assembly, Hon. Sylvester Agabi Jnr on Friday flagged off the distribution of 420 bags of fertilisers to farmers in Obanliku Local Government Area of the State in the first phase of the laudable exercise.
The exercise, which was held at the secretariat of the Obanliku Local Government Area in Sankwala has in attendance the HOLGA, stakeholders, leaders and benefiting farmers.
Hon Agabi, who is also the member representing the good people of Obudu State Constituency in the House of Assembly applauded the gesture of government in providing support to farmer to improve production and guarantee food security.
The deputy speaker hinted that the initiative was to boost agricultural productivity and improve crop yields for farmers in the Constituency and advocated continuous support for government as it is committed to ease the sufferings of the people.
Some stakeholders and farmer who spoke during their exercise applauded the gesture of government, assuring that they would put the provided fertilizers to effective on their respective farms.
