Hon. Sylvester Agabi has called for peace between the Mbazirem community in Vandeikya LGA, Benue State, and the Abonkib community in Obudu LGA, Cross River State. The Deputy Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly and member representing Obudu State Constituency, visited Vandeikya LG Council Chairman, Hon. Dennis Guda, accompanied by Mr. Godwin Orim Jnr., the Community Relations Officer of Obudu.
This visit follows a recent attack by the Mbazirem community on the Abonkib community over a land dispute. Hon. Agabi urged both communities to embrace peace, highlighting their shared history and cultural ties. “Many of us have roots in the Tiv people. We have relatives among you, so it is wrong for us to be in constant conflict,” he stated.
Hon. Guda expressed his appreciation for Hon. Agabi’s visit and his concern for their community, promising to work together towards lasting security solutions between Obudu LGA and Vandeikya LGA.
