The Ijiraga Progressives Family rejoiced over the recent appointment of Chief Asegem Emmanuel into a prominent government position such as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor in Northern Senatorial District.
Yesterday’s celebration in Ijiraga was in honour of Chief Asegem Emmanuel and it marks a crucial milestone among the rank and file of Ijiraga. According to the Progressives Family, his achievement is seen as a unique show of love and recognition of an important potential from Ijiraga by His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Otu.
Addressing a mamoth crowd which thronged the venue of the celebration on the meritorious appointment of Chief Asegem Emmanuel, the chairman of Ijiraga Progressives Family, Joseph Uwakwe described the celebrant as one who gives lavishly in advancing community progress which made him a cynosure worthy of celebration at all times.
” We express our sentiments of gratitude to the governor for appointing our very own son into his cabinet as Senior Special Assistant Timber Control North.
“We say thank you and we are very grateful for this outstanding gesture toward Ijiraga in particular and Yala at large.
“The trust bestowed on Chief Asegem Emmanuel in his old and new assignments is undoubtedly being discharged for the good of all Cross Riverians”.
On his part, Chief Asegem Emmanuel while reeling out his background as one whom “God showed mercy” amidst storms of life appreciated the kind gesture by the Ijiraga Progressives Family even as he urged everyone to queue behind the duo of Honourable Dr Martins Achadu, Chief Emmanuel Egwu and himself as frontliners of Ijiraga unity and development.

Chief Asegem’s foray into politics has been dotted with success stories which spanned sports, education, humanitarian services, succour and empathy at all times to vulnerable people. Many Ijiraga people thanked God for the grace bestowed on him just as the prayed for sustained grace to jolt Ijiraga higher among her peers in political reckoning.
Similarly, the cergy led by Prophetess Margaret Ikpa handed a symbolic flag to Chief Asegem in affirmation that he would continue to be the bridge builder and flag bearer in Ijiraga, Ukelle and beyond the shores of Cross River State.
Eminent personalities who showed solidarity with the celebrant included; former Yala Local Government chairman, Honourable Mile Usibe, Dr Hippolatus Lukpata,Hon Dr Martins Achadu, Hon Brian Odey, Honourable Commissioner For Information, Erasmus Ekpang, Senior Special Assistant Timber Control Central, Daniel Bisong and Honourable Ikobi Ikobi.
Other notable attendees included; Honourable Patrick Egana, former leader of Yala Legislative Council, All Progressives Congress party Chairmen in Ukelle, party stalwarts, friends from the business community and well wishers across Ukelle, Yala, the state and the south east.
Uniting voices in attendance expressed delight over the celebration and prayed God to continuously renew his strength in all areas of endeavours.
