In a bold move to tackle social challenges and promote youth development, Prince 7 Football Club, under the leadership of Hon. Prince Godswill Edward, has unveiled the “Give Them Ball, Not Gun” initiative on this year’s International Sports Day.
The initiative, powered by both Prince 7 Football Club and the P7 Youth Development Initiative, seeks to harness the transformative power of sports, particularly football, to address issues of insecurity and social unrest plaguing communities locally and globally.
With a clear focus on rural sports development, the program aims to provide opportunities for young people to engage in sporting activities as a means of diverting their energy away from violence and towards constructive endeavors. By emphasizing sports as a tool for unity, peace, and progress, the initiative aligns with the goals of the International Day of Sports for Development and Peace.
Hon. Prince Godswill Edward, Chairman of Prince 7 FC, emphasized the importance of investing in youth and promoting economic growth through sports. He stated, “A sustainable project is such that must improve the condition and confront the challenges of a nation’s youth. Sports is a tool for economic growth and development.”
