The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the Cross River House of Assembly has paid an oversight visit to the Office of the Auditor-General and Accountant General of the state on familiarization.
Chairman of the PAC, Hon Brian Odey, representing Yala 1, who led members of his team also hinted that the performance of the 2024 Appropriation Act is top on the agenda.
He enjoined Ministries , Departments and Agencies (MDA’s) to follow laid down procedures for government spending and accountability in line with global best practices.
He also assured Cross Riverians of his Committee’s resolve towards achieving a 100 percent review of the public accounts with a focus on high-rosk areas, ensuring compliance of MDAs with the Appropriation Act, Procurement Act, and other extant financial laws and regulations.
In the bid to ensure effective service delivery of the Committee, he underscored the need to ensure accountability and effective use of public funds by all MDA’S.
