Speaker Ayambem Empowers Constituents, Lists Key Achievements, Reassures of More Development

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, on Sunday empowered constituents in Edor, Ikom II State Constituency, with several items to improve their livelihoods, while outlining his achievements and reaffirming his commitment to the people.

Addressing the large crowd, Speaker Ayambem said he was in Edor to honour his people and express gratitude for their continuous love and support since his emergence as their representative.

“God does not choose the qualified, but qualifies the chosen. I am here to thank you for the love and support you have given me from day one till this moment. I charge you to keep hope alive and continue supporting our Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, because there is none who can do it better than him,” the Speaker declared.

He commended Governor Otu and his wife for their people-focused governance, stressing that every local government in Cross River State is feeling the impact of their leadership.

The Speaker also reeled out projects and interventions he has facilitated for his constituency, including:
– Appointment and employment opportunities for 56 persons.
– Completion of a 3-classroom block in Eganga Community School.
– Completion of a 6-classroom block in Ejiwor Primary School.
– Completion of a 3-classroom block in Nyarankpo Community School.
– Solar-powered borehole in Nsak Mission.
– Ongoing road construction in Nde 3 Corners.
– Ongoing Etikpe Inland Road, Abanyom.
– Construction of a major culvert across Nsak Mission, Ayughasa.
– Roofing of a 6-classroom block in Ayughasa Community Primary School.
– Ongoing bridge construction across Oyeghe-Eganga-Ntansele axis in Ntansele Ward.
– Ongoing solar-powered borehole in Ejirawor, Nde.

To further strengthen the economic base of his people, the Speaker distributed empowerment items such as cars, motorcycles, sewing machines, generators, industrial spray pumps, grinding machines, wheelbarrows, educational materials, and farm tools. Also, the wife of the Speaker, Mrs Nelly Elverts Ayambem, distributed wrappers, bags of rice and cash gifts to women as support to the Speaker’s empowerment. She thanked the Governor, especially his wife Biahop Mrs Eyoanwan Otu for her continuous support to women in the state.

Representing Governor Otu at the event, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Dr. Emmanuel Ironbar, commended Speaker Ayambem for always returning to thank his people and for delivering on his promises.

“The Speaker has done so well, and there is no better way to appreciate your people than coming back to them. The love will never stop. The empowerment may not go round today, but with time, it will reach everyone,” Ironbar assured.

He urged the people of Ikom II to continue to support both the Governor and the Speaker, noting that all campaign promises made by Governor Otu would be fulfilled step by step. He also emphasized the need for love and unity among constituents.

The empowerment program drew wide applause from beneficiaries and community stakeholders, who pledged their continued support for Speaker Ayambem’s leadership and the administration of Governor Otu.
