Sports is more than competition; it is a unifying force, a tool for talent discovery, and a driver of national growth. This was the submission of Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko, Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports and founder of the Sports University of Nigeria, during the official opening of the 9th National Youth Games in Asaba.
The event, which brought together nearly 5,000 athletes alongside hundreds of coaches, officials, and delegates from across the country, marked the largest edition of the Games so far. According to Senator Nwoko, this milestone underscores Nigeria’s immense reservoir of youthful talent and promise waiting to be harnessed.
“As Vice Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports and founder of the Sports University of Nigeria, I remain committed to ensuring that sports continues to serve as a tool for empowerment, education, and national pride,” he declared.
Senator Nwoko further emphasized that the Games transcend the pursuit of medals, noting that their true essence lies in inspiring young Nigerians to believe in themselves, chase their dreams, and channel their talents into building a united and stronger nation.
