The Director General of the Cross River State Electrification Agency, Francis Odachi Ekpo, in partnership with the Henry Ojong Foundation, has announced a free medical and surgical outreach in Yahe, Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State.
The outreach, scheduled for Friday, August 29, 2025, will hold at Francis Odachi Ekpo’s residence along Abakaliki Road, Yahe, and will provide a wide range of medical services including consultations, drug prescriptions, counseling, malaria and typhoid screening, treatment for hypertension, diabetes, asthma, peptic ulcer, and eye care services. Surgical cases such as scrotal hernia, lipoma, and male circumcision will also be handled.
The following day, Saturday, August 30, 2025, the community will converge for the Yala New Yam Festival at the same venue. The celebration, set to begin at 2:00pm, promises cultural displays, live band performances, best harvester competition, as well as dancing and singing contests.
Speaking, Francis Odachi Ekpo described it as part of his commitment to community development and cultural preservation. He noted that while the festival showcases the rich heritage of the Yala people, the outreach aims to address critical health needs within the community.
The planning committee, led by John Onwu (Atrouble Joe), Dr. Oche Patrick Etim, and Dr. Obo Obo Daniel, assured that all necessary arrangements are in place to ensure a successful exercise.
