Senator Prince Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, officially kicked off the Student Week Football Tournament at the Sports University of Nigeria, Idumuje-Ugboko, bringing excitement and energy to the institution’s annual celebration.
The opening ceremony witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and community leaders, as the university launched a week-long lineup of sports and cultural events aimed at promoting unity, leadership, and youth development.
Speaking at the event, Senator Nwoko expressed his delight at engaging with the students and emphasized the importance of youth involvement in sports and extracurricular activities.
“There’s something special about seeing young people come together — not just to compete, but to bond, to lead, and to thrive,” the Senator remarked.
He commended the students for their vibrant spirit and encouraged them to make the most of the week’s activities, describing them as future leaders and champions of innovation.
Senator Nwoko, who is also the founder of the Sports University of Nigeria — the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa — reaffirmed his commitment to youth empowerment, education, and holistic development through sports and academic excellence.
“I wish all our students a fulfilling and fun-filled week ahead,” he added, drawing applause from the crowd.
The Student Week is an annual highlight of the university calendar, designed to celebrate student talents, foster unity, and reinforce the institution’s mission of producing well-rounded, globally competitive graduates.
