SPEAKER AYAMBEM PAYS TRIBUTE TO LATE MRS. AGBE, CONDOLES DEPUTY GOVERNOR PETER ODEY

 

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Deputy Governor of Cross River State, Rt. Hon. Peter Odey, over the passing of his elder sister, Mrs. Alice Ababa Agbe (nee Odey). The funeral ceremony took place on Saturday, April 3, 2025, in Mbube, Ogoja Local Government Area, drawing dignitaries and sympathizers from across the state.

Speaker Ayambem described the death of Mrs. Agbe as a painful loss not only to the Odey family but also to the entire Mbube community and all who had the privilege of knowing her. He noted that her life of grace, compassion, and impact remains an inspiration, urging the family to take solace in the enduring legacy she left behind.

Representing the Speaker at the funeral, Hon. Brian Odey, member representing Yala 1 State Constituency, conveyed the Speaker’s message and added that Mrs. Agbe was a selfless and admirable woman who played a nurturing role in the lives of many. He prayed for strength and fortitude for the family during this difficult time and for the soul of the departed to find eternal rest.

Among the dignitaries who gathered to sympathize with Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Peter Odey were the Governor of Cross River State, ably represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Anthony Owan Enoh; High Chief Higgins Peters; Prince Akwase Offiono; High Chief Peter Ojie; Hon. Boniface Okache; and the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Neji Abang, among several others.
