The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Cross River State Chapter, has officially dissolved its Local Government Election and Monitoring Committee following the successful conclusion of its assignment tied to the November 2, 2024, council polls.
In a statement issued and signed by the IPAC Chairman, Engr. Effiom Edet Okon, the council commended members of the committee for their dedication, discipline, and loyalty throughout the electoral period.
The committee, constituted in the build-up to the local government elections, was tasked with overseeing political party participation and ensuring that the democratic process at the grassroots level was conducted peacefully and fairly.
“We commend the committee members for their unwavering loyalty and dedication to carrying out directives from the Executive Council,” Engr. Okon stated. “Their tireless efforts contributed immensely to the peaceful conduct and success of the 2024 local government election.”
IPAC emphasized that the committee’s role was crucial in promoting democratic values and building trust in the electoral process. According to the chairman, their work exemplified what is possible when political stakeholders uphold the principles of democracy and accountability.
“As the committee has now fulfilled its assignment, we formally declare its dissolution. On behalf of IPAC Cross River State Chapter, I extend our profound gratitude for their service,” the statement concluded.
The dissolution comes as IPAC moves to restructure and streamline its operations following recent developments in the state’s political space, including the earlier dissolution of interim coalitions such as CNPP and CUPP.
IPAC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a stable and participatory democratic environment in Cross River State, calling on political actors to remain law-abiding and supportive of the council’s initiatives for good governance.
