SPEAKER AYAMBEM GRACES CHIEFTAINCY CORONATION OF FORMER GOVERNOR CLEMENT EBRI AS ‘ESOGHOR 1’ OF NTA COMMUNITY

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, on Saturday, April 26, 2025, led dignitaries to Adon-Nta village in Ikom Local Government Area, where he honoured former Governor of Cross River State, Chief (Dr.) Clement Ebri, during his coronation as the Esoghor(The Pillar) 1 of Nta community.

Addressing the gathering, Speaker Ayambem described Chief Ebri as a father figure and an outstanding leader whose short but impactful administration left a lasting imprint on the state’s development. He recalled that Chief Ebri’s 24-month tenure, though interrupted by a military coup, remains one of the most progressive periods in Cross River’s history.

“Chief Ebri’s leadership stands as a symbol of excellence,” Ayambem said. “Despite the brevity of his time in office, his achievements continue to inspire new generations. His service to the people, both in and out of office, fully merits this honour.”

The Speaker also praised the Nta community for recognising one of their own and used the opportunity to reaffirm Governor Bassey Otu’s strong focus on delivering growth and development across the state. He assured the community that Governor Otu is committed to addressing the needs of Cross Riverians and building a better future for all.

The event, held in the hometown of Chief Ebri’s late mother, featured traditional rites, cultural performances, and heartfelt tributes in honour of the former governor’s contributions to Cross River State.
