Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, has facilitated projects estimated at over ₦30 billion through President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aimed at improving the lives of Deltans, especially those in Delta North. Those to be executed include various infrastructure and development projects that promise to uplift the region’s economy and quality of life. The projects are being funded through Mr. President’s special intervention funds.
Among the ongoing projects are those executed through the Benin-Owena River Basin Authority, with allocations splitting into over ₦7.5 billion each for various initiatives. These include the construction of treatment plants and reticulation for the completed Ogwashi-Uku Dam in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Other highlighted projects, as detailed in a statement by Senator Nwoko’s media consultant, Michael Ogar, include irrigation systems for farmers in Olodu and surrounding communities within Aniocha South.
According to the statement released on Wednesday and made available to journalists, the lawmaker also facilitated the Idumuje Dam project in the Idumuje clan of Aniocha North Local Government Area, estimated at ₦7.5 billion. This is set to fast-track the commencement of a dam project on the local river.
“Another ₦7.5 billion is earmarked for irrigation across the river belt, including Idumuje and neighboring communities, to support farming activities. This also includes the provision of quality seedlings, fertilizers, and farming implements to enhance agricultural productivity,” the statement noted.
“The target of these initiatives is to enable year-round farming for increased food production — both for local consumption and potential export — thereby boosting food security and the state’s economy.”
“This is one of the major landmark projects Senator Ned Nwoko is bringing to Delta State. It wouldn’t have been possible without his strong ties to the APC and the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
“This project came directly from the President to him and a few other influential senators,” the statement concluded.
