Senator Ned Munir Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has commended President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for officially flagging off the construction of the access road to the Second Niger Bridge and the reconstruction of the Asaba-Benin Expressway.
In a message of appreciation, Senator Nwoko described the projects as vital to national development, emphasizing their economic and social significance for the South-South and South-East regions. He noted that the deteriorated condition of the Asaba-Benin Expressway had caused hardship for commuters and businesses, making its reconstruction a top priority.
“As a senator representing Delta North, I have persistently engaged the Federal Ministry of Works, advocating for urgent intervention. I formally wrote to the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. (Engr.) David Nweze Umahi, pressing for immediate remedial measures. It is gratifying to see these efforts materialize under the leadership of President Tinubu,” Nwoko stated.
He highlighted the Senate’s commitment to improving federal roads nationwide, with the Senate Committee on Works of which he is a member pushing for the reconstruction of major highways to enhance economic activities and road safety.
Commending the Honourable Minister of Works, Sen. Umahi, for his dedication to infrastructure development, Nwoko assured the people of Delta North that he would continue advocating for projects that benefit the region.
“The flag-off of these projects is not just a personal milestone but a collective triumph for our region. It will enhance connectivity, ease transportation burdens, and boost commercial activities,” he added.
The senator reaffirmed his commitment to partnering with President Tinubu’s administration to drive sustainable development, expressing confidence that these road projects would significantly improve mobility and economic opportunities in Delta, Anambra, Edo, and beyond.
