The Vice Chairman of Ogoja Local Government Area, Hon. Emmanuel Idi Yakubu, has praised the leadership qualities of Sen. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti, describing her as a selfless and passionate representative of her people.
In a Facebook post, Hon. Yakubu recounted his experience working with Sen. Akpoti on a training and empowerment program in Kogi State before his election as Vice Chairman. According to him, despite initial tensions caused by delays from the implementing ministry, Sen. Akpoti’s reaction was driven by her deep concern for her constituents, who had been waiting at the training venue for two days.
“I was initially upset with the way she spoke, but all I could hear was a woman who was passionate about her people and giving them the best representation,” he wrote. “We were not in front of a camera, neither do I think she was recording from her end to score political points.”
Hon. Yakubu emphasized that Sen. Akpoti’s priority was always her people, noting that during negotiations, she never sought personal gains but focused solely on securing benefits for her constituents. He also revealed that when she learned the delay was due to the implementing ministry, she not only calmed down but went further to provide free accommodation and a training hall at her residence to ensure the program was successful.
Having worked with several Senators, Hon. Yakubu described Sen. Akpoti as a “different breed” and lamented that her people were being deprived of her leadership due to her suspension.
“I do not know much about the trending issue, but what I know about her is that she is passionate about service to her people,” he stated.
Sen. Natasha Hadiza Akpoti’s suspension has sparked widespread reactions, with many questioning the decision and expressing concern over the implications for her constituents.
