Senator (Associate Prof.) Stephen Odey, Oyorgu 1 of Yache Nation and Commissioner for Education in Cross River State, has called for sustained peace and unity as the foundation for development in Yache Nation. He made this appeal today during a crucial peace meeting at his Okuku residence, where delegations from the MAA and Wonye clans gathered to address community tensions.
Senator Odey, a prominent leader in Yache Nation, underscored the importance of fostering a culture of harmony and cooperation among clans. He urged traditional rulers and youths to embrace peaceful coexistence, emphasizing that conflict hinders progress and development.
“Peace and unity are the bedrock of any meaningful development,” he stated. “It is imperative that we put an end to all forms of discord and work together for the good of our people.”
In a firm warning against any acts of violence or disruptions, Senator Odey declared that anyone found instigating or perpetuating trouble in the community would be apprehended and held accountable under the law. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to maintaining order and ensuring that peace prevails in Yache Nation.
