The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) of Cross River State has extended its heartfelt congratulations to all Cross Riverians and Nigerians as the country celebrates its 64th Independence anniversary. In a press release issued on October 1, 2024, IPAC called for peace, unity, tolerance, and patriotism as the nation reflects on its journey toward democratic governance.

Effiom Edet Okon, the IPAC Chairman, highlighted the significance of the anniversary. “This milestone provides us with an opportunity to reflect on our achievements and rededicate ourselves to the task of building a better society. The need for peace, unity, and patriotism cannot be overemphasized as we continue to strive for sustainable democracy and development in Cross River State,” he said.
IPAC praised the resilience and industrious nature of Cross Riverians, acknowledging their utmost commitment to democratic ideals. The council also commended the vision of Nigeria’s founding fathers while reaffirming its dedication to ensuring political stability and successful elections, particularly as the local government elections in Cross River State approach on October 26, 2024.
Engr. Okon added, “IPAC remains committed to the People’s First Mantra of His Excellency, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, and we urge all Cross Riverians to unite in building a prosperous state that reflects the aspirations of our Governor’s vision for the people.”
Omari Fredrick Eje, IPAC Secretary, further emphasized the collective responsibility of nation-building. “Nation-building requires the cooperation of every citizen. We encourage everyone to support efforts aimed at strengthening our democratic institutions and improving the lives of the people, particularly in the fight against corruption,” Eje stated.
Both leaders acknowledged the current national challenges, including economic hardship and insecurity, and urged governments at all levels to focus on improving the standard of living and ensuring safety across the country. “The 64th Independence anniversary offers the government yet another opportunity to set Nigeria on the path of economic prosperity and political stability,” Okon noted, stressing the need for a stronger fight against corruption.
IPAC expressed its commitment to working with security agencies to sanitize the electoral process and promote good governance. “We are actively partnering with relevant agencies to ensure corruption is eradicated from our political system, which will create wealth, reduce crime, and ultimately bring stability,” said Eje.
In closing, Engr. Okon called on Nigerians to work together for the common good. “Nigeria is the only country we can call our own. Let us join hands to fulfill the vision of our heroes past and build a united, prosperous, and democratic nation,” he concluded.
