The Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Bassey Edet Otu has welcomed the defection of Hon. Samuel Neji Abang, the Member representing Ikom 1 State Constituency in the Cross River State House of Assembly, from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC). The event, which took place today in Ikom Local Government Area, also saw thousands of PDP supporters following Hon. Abang into the APC.
Representing Governor Otu at the event, the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, praised the move as a step in the right direction, noting that it reflects the state’s growing alignment with the Governor’s vision. “Ikom is on the right path, and this defection is in consonance with God’s plan,” Ayambem stated. He described Governor Otu as the “new sheriff” who has come to restore what has been lost in the state and commended him for his unwavering commitment to fulfilling his promises. “Gov. Otu does what he says and says what he does. His love for Ikom and Cross River State is clear in his actions,” Ayambem added.
