Massive turnout and support for Chief Sunny Ayang as he embarks on grassroots consultation for LG chairmanship.

Political stakeholders and party members from Obanliku have turned out in large numbers to support the Chief (Dr.) Sunny Ebebe Ayang JP’s aspiration for chairman of the Obanliku local government. The massive turnout of stakeholders and party supporters was witnessed at Chief Sunny Ayang’s consultative meeting on Sunday at Cornerstone College in Busanfong village, Obanliku local government area.

A number of party supporters and stakeholders, including Chief Ukani Inakefe, Dr. Joseph Agba, Hon. Sylvanus Anyawho, Mr. John Paul Anakai (JP), Mr. Thomas Ashibi, the NYCN Secretary-General, Gabriel Ugbo, Chief Sankara, and Mrs. Takus, expressed their belief in Chief Sunny Ayang’s capacity to effectively lead the local government. They emphasized that his previous achievements demonstrate his commitment to serving the community.

According to them, Chief Sunny Ayang is a household name in the LGA, known for his practical leadership style, and “leadership, in this context, is not contingent upon youthfulness, but rather on a sincere desire to serve. At this critical juncture, Obanliku necessitates a chairman with a proven track record, rather than an untested individual. Chief Sunny Ayang’s tenure as Chapter Chairman has been distinguished by remarkable achievements, underscoring the notion that people make places, not places, make people,” they said.

One of the women present, Mrs. Takus, who spoke on behalf of other women, pledged their steadfast support, stating that Obanliku stands poised for elevation to unprecedented heights of prosperity, and highlighted the importance of considering women’s perspectives in local governance.

In his address, Chief Sunny Ayang formally expressed his willingness and preparedness to run for the chairmanship of Obanliku Local Government Council and outlined his vision for the development of Obanliku, focusing on infrastructure, empowerment of women and youth, inclusive growth, education, healthcare, agriculture, and security. He also emphasized the need to work closely with the Peoples First state government led by Senator Bassey Otu to drive progress in the local government.

During the meeting, Chief Sunny Ayang also used the opportunity to inaugurate his coordinators across the ten wards of Obanliku. The meeting, which attracted many individuals, including critical stakeholders, women, and youths, was indeed a testament to the acceptability of Chief Sunny Ayang’s aspiration.
