Protests: Hon Brian Urges Yala Youths to Avoid Destructive Behaviour

 

Hon Brian Odey, Chairman, House Committee on Public Accounts, Cross River House of Assembly has appealed to Yala youths not to engage in any protest that would lead to the breakdown of law and order. Brian who spoke while engaging different youth groups across Yala local government area also emphasized the importance of dialogue in addressing concerns.

He cautioned the youth against resorting to violence or destructive behavior; assuring all that their concerns have been heard and urged them to give government time to address their grievances.

The Deputy Minority Leader engaged the youth in a constructive dialogue; addressing the concerns and potential drawbacks of protesting without proper management. He emphasized the importance of peaceful and organized demonstrations, highlighting the risks of uncontrolled protests, including damage to property, disruption of public order, and harm to individuals.

“By encouraging responsible and structured expression of grievances, government can empower the youths to effectively advocate for their rights while maintaining harmony in the community”, he reiterated.

The lawmaker urged the youths not to become agents of destruction, but should work to preserve the existing hard-won unity.

”Don’t allow anyone to exploit you for their political gains. Instead, let’s rally behind the current administration’s efforts to implement policies and programs that will improve the lives of everyone.

” I urge our youths not to become agents of destruction. We have only one Yala LGA and Cross River State and we must work together to preserve its hard-won unity. I strongly appeal to the youths to work together to preserve our existing mutual peace and harmony.”
