The members of Utuma community in diaspora, Biase Local Government Area of Cross River State, earlier today paid a courtesy visit to the Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey Ph D, in his office at the Ministry of Education Headquarters, Calabar.
The visit seeks the Ministry’s intervention in their community, particularly the re-establishment of the school that was completely razed down due to communal clashes. They also congratulated the Commissioner for his well deserved appointment, following his antecedent and numerous developmental strides in Cross River State and Nigeria at large.
The Commissioner welcomed and appreciated the group for the visit, assuring them of the commitment of the Executive Governor of Cross River State, Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, who is determined to ensure that every Cross River Child is given adequate opportunity to get accessible and quality education and as a Ministry we are going to provide the enabling environment where every child will thrive educationally; Without education, no development takes place because education remains the bedrock in every society, he further commended the group for seeking this intervention, he said: “No child should be denied the right to education, and no school should be destroyed during any crisis,” he emphasized while charging them on the safety of teachers.
