C’River State Security Adviser directs immediate suspension of NYCN election

In a decisive move to maintain peace and order, the Cross River State Security Adviser, Maj. Gen. O.U Obono (Rtd), has directed the suspension of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Cross River State Chapter election, which was scheduled to take place on June 19, 2024.
Citing concerns over potential security breaches, Maj. Gen. Obono emphasized the necessity of the suspension to avert any possible disruptions that could threaten the stability of the state. The directive has been issued to all relevant security agencies within Cross River State, mandating them to enforce the suspension rigorously.
“We must prioritize the safety and security of our citizens above all else,” stated Maj. Gen. Obono. “Given the current intelligence reports, it is crucial to take preemptive measures to ensure that no individual or group destabilizes the peace of our state under the guise of this election.”
In light of this directive, all security agencies in the state have been instructed to clamp down on any persons or groups attempting to contravene the government’s order. The Security Adviser warned that strict actions will be taken against those who fail to comply.
