By Linus Obogo

When Cross Riverians continue to echo “Season of Sweetness”, this is exactly what they mean. A man who promised in poetry and striving to deliver in same way, in poetry, not prose. Striving to berth hopes and expectations. This is what Governor Bassey Otu seems to be epitomising as he inches closer to his eventful one year in office.
At the weekend, in Calabar, the governor met with officials of the Federal Housing Authority, led by its Managing Director/Chief ExecutiveOfficer, Hon. Oyetunde Ojo, to jaw jaw on how to synergise to address the gross housing deficit in the state.
At the parley, Governor Otu stressed his commitment to ensuring the success of the Federal Housing project in Cross River State.
This is, indeed, a significant step towards addressing the housing deficit in the state. With the support of the state government, the project is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of many a Cross Riverian.
The Federal Government’s housing initiative aims to provide affordable housing for citizens across the country. Governor Otu’s pledge to allocate 25 hectares of land for the project demonstrates his dedication to meeting the housing needs of the people of Cross River State.
By working closely with the Federal Housing Authority, the state government can ensure that the project is implemented efficiently and effectively.
One of the key aspects of the housing development is the inclusion of duplexes and bungalows to cater to individuals from different income brackets. This approach ensures that housing is accessible to a wide range of people, regardless of their financial situation and class.
By providing a mix of housing options, the project can accommodate the diverse needs of the population.
In addition to the housing units, the estates is expected to feature public facilities such as schools, police stations, and local markets. These amenities are essential for creating sustainable communities where residents can live, work, and socialize.
By incorporating these facilities into the housing estates, the project aims to promote a high quality of life for its residents.
Governor Otu’s vision for developing new satellite towns in Cross River State is a strategic move to addressing urbanization challenges and promote balanced regional development.
By creating new urban centers, the state government seeks to de-escalate pressure on existing cities and provide residents with access to essential services and infrastructure.
When finally berthed, these satellite towns have the potential to become vibrant hubs of economic activity and social interaction, contributing to the overall development of the state.
The collaboration between the state government and the Federal Housing Authority is crucial for the success of the housing project.
Through collaboration, both parties can leverage their resources and expertise to overcome challenges and achieve common goals. The Federal Housing Authority’s experience in housing development, combined with the state government’s local knowledge and support, can create a strong foundation for the project’s success.
Governor Otu’s endorsement of President Bola Tinubu’s “renewed hope agenda” underscores his commitment to driving positive change and development in Cross River State. By aligning with the federal government’s priorities, the state government can access additional resources and support to implement key projects and initiatives.
This alignment also fosters cooperation and coordination between different levels of government, leading to more effective governance and service delivery.
When the housing project kicks off, it is essential for all stakeholders to remain committed to its success. Transparency, accountability, and community engagement are critical for ensuring that the project meets the needs of the people it is intended to serve.
By deliberately involving local communities in the planning and implementation process, the project can benefit from their input and support, leading to more sustainable and inclusive outcomes.
Instructively, Governor Otu’s pledge to ensure the success of the Federal Housing project in Cross River State is a positive development that holds great promise for the future.
By working closely with the Federal Housing Authority and other stakeholders, the state government can make significant strides towards addressing the housing challenges facing the state.
And through careful planning, collaboration, and community engagement, the housing project holds the prospect to transform the lives of many Cross Riverians and contribute to the overall development of the state.
