C’RIVER: EDUCATION COMMISSIONER RECEIVES UNIVERSITY OF CALABAR VICE CHANCELLOR ON A COURTESY VISIT, SEEKS PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MINISTRY ON TEACHERS RETRAINING

 

Cross River State Commissioner for Education, Senator Stephen Odey Ph D received the Vice Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Florence Banku Obi and her entourage on a courtesy call earlier today in his office. The VC congratulated the Commissioner for his meritorious appointment, as she further commended Governor Otu for appointing the best hands to oversee the State Education Sector.

The Vice Chancellor’s visit seeks partnership with the Ministry of Education and discussions centred on fostering ties with the University of Calabar and the Ministry of Education with the following proposals:

1. Proposal for a six- week Comprehensive capacity building, certified training for Basic Education Teachers in Cross River State.

2. Deepening participants’ understanding of the principles and importance of value orientation, safety, well being, and inclusivity in Education settings.

3. Equipping participants with practical strategies for creating and maintaining safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment that foster positive values, respect for students rights and their well being, amongst others.

The Commissioner and his Management Staff delightfully received the Vice Chancellor and her team, noting that it was a very important visit as he assured the VC of looking diligently into all the proposals submitted and further collaboration with the University.

The two academic gaints had a fruitful deliberation as they both agreed to synergize on the possible areas of interest to put Cross River Education sector on the global stage.
