Speaker Ayambem praises Sen Odey’s transformative contributions to the state

The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem has showered Senator Stephen Adi Odey, Ph.D., the Commissioner for Education, with accolades for his exceptional accomplishments and his role in community development in the State.

Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem made this known on Saturday as he joined other guests at the Yache Nation Grand Reception in honour of their illustrious son, Sen. Barr. Stephen Odey, on his appointment by His Excellency, Sen (Prince) Bassey Edet Otu, as the Commissioner for Education. He described Odey’s story as one of hard work, determination, selflessness, and a shining example of what can be achieved with dedication and perseverance.

Rt. Hon Elvert Ayambem stated that despite Sen Stephen Odey starting from humble beginnings, he has gone on to achieve incredible academic and professional success. Adding that he has earned not one, but two Ph.D. degrees, which is a testament to his intellectual prowess and unwavering commitment to excellence. He has also distinguished himself as a legal expert, with a deep understanding of complex legal issues and a proven track record of upholding the rule of law.

Elvert Ayambem explained that Senator Odey’s contributions to our Cross River community have been nothing short of transformative, saying as Commissioner for Education, he left an indelible mark on the educational landscape of our state, spearheading innovative initiatives that have propelled our schools to new heights.

Ayambem further acknowledged the challenges facing Yache Nation, which include the need for the Akreha Okpoku bridge and the lack of electricity, and reassured the Yache people of his synergy with Senator Prince Bassey Edet Otu, the People’s First Governor, to ensure the completion of the bridge construction and providing electricity to Yache.

The Speaker on behalf of his family and the entire Cross River State House of Assembly, congratulated Senator Odey on his accomplishments and wished him continued success in his role as the head of the educational ministry.
