A native of Okuku Ipuole village, Okuku ward, Yala 1 State Constituency of Yala Local Government Area of Cross River State, Hon Oko Sunday Ebeku is of the family of Late Mr. and Mrs Ebeku Oko of Aigene, Okuku Ipuole.

He had his Primary Education at St. Joseph’s Primary School, Okuku-Yala in Yala Local Government Area. Upon completion, he started his secondary education at the famous Mary Knoll College, Okuku Yala before proceeding to write his WAEC at Christ the Kings College, Adikpo, Benue State when he relocated to play football for the famous Kwande United Football Club of Adikpo in Benue State.

Hon Oko holds a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) in Public Administration from the University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State.

He is currently undergoing a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Administration at the University of Calabar, Calabar.

Hon Otolo as fondly called has attended several seminars, workshops, and symposiums in Human Resource development and capacity building.


Hon Oko Sunday Ebeku is a grassroots politician with overwhelming support in community mobilization and sensitization for growth and development.

His formidable networks and resourcefulness has always made very impressive impact in any given position he has held. His extensive networks from the hills of Obanliku to Bakassi adds to the fact that he is among political figures in the state with cross-party links.

Hon Sunday Ebeku is politically astute, moderate, accommodating in his views and easy going. Affable and approachable, he drew his strength from his connect with the common man. An agile and artful politician, Otolo balanced the core public interests with a broader appeal that has stretched across different communities in the state over the years.

He has served Yala LGC and Cross River State Government at different levels as follows:

✓Governor Donald Duke 2nd Term Campaign Organization Coordinator, Yala LGA: 2003

✓Member PDP State Executive Committee: Treasurer, 2003–2007

✓Chairman, Senator Liyel Imoke Transition Sub-Committee on Agriculture ,2007.

✓Supervisor for Works, Yala Local Government Council, 2008–2010

✓Board Member, New Cities Development Agency, Cross River State Government: 2015–2018.

✓ Special Adviser Tourism, Cross River State Government: 2018–2019

✓General Manager, Cross River State Waste Management Agency: 2019–2023.

His wealth of experience garnered over the years has carved a niche for him as a humble and patriotic Nigerian who is readily available for service to humanity at all times.

Some of his key competencies and traits includes ability to communicate fluently, high level diplomacy and tact in administration, high interpersonal relationships, a prudent financial manager of resources, ability to multitask without rancour, a perfect team player with the ability to function with little or no supervision.

His patriotic deeds, contributions to humanity and human capital development earned him the following awards and laurels:

2) Ambassador of Peace by the Universal Peace Federation.

3) Award of honor by Post Graduate Students Government Senate (PGSAS) in recognition of his outstanding personality, achievement and construction to green and clean state of Calabar metropolis and Cross River State at large.

4) Award of Excellence by the Catholic Diocese of Ogoja.

5) Award of Exemplary leadership by National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) ,Cross River State Chapter.

6) Fellow Institute of Administration of Nigeria (FIA)

7) Niger Delta Icon Merit Award (NDDIMA) in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Niger Delta, amongst several religious, social and civil service awards.

Hon Oko, Sunday Ebeku is a silent achiever and a rare personality in our political clime who is charismatic, confident, determined, insightful and Persuasive.
