Beyond Politics: Hon. Aruku’s Thanksgiving Reflects a Commitment to Community Unity, Development

Hon. Engr Thomas Aruku’s Thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at St Benedict Cathedral Ogoja, became a gathering of bipartisan support and generous contributions.
The event marked the celebration of the reclamation of Hon. Engr Thomas Aruku’s mandate following the Appeal Court verdict. Dignitaries from diverse political backgrounds, including Speaker CRSHA, Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Deputy Speaker Rt Hon. Sylvester Agabi Jnr, and Chief Dr Peter Ojie, among others, joined together with traditional rulers, communities, and friends to honor and support the Member representing Ogoja State Constituency.
The Thanksgiving Mass witnessed an outpouring of support, reflecting the unity in diversity as both APC and PDP leaders stood side by side. Prominent figures, such as former Chief of Staff to Governor Ben Ayade Chief Martins Orim, Commissioners, former State House Members, and Local Government Chairmen, demonstrated a strong bipartisan commitment to celebrating Hon. Engr Thomas Aruku’s victory.
A significant highlight of the occasion was Hon. Engr Thomas Aruku’s generous gesture – a one-million-naira donation for the internal repairs of St Benedict’s Cathedral Ogoja. This act sparked a chain of contributions, with Speaker Rt Hon. Elvert Ayambem, Deputy Speaker, Cross River State Executive Members, former Yala LG Chairman Hon. Mike Usibe, and friends joining in the spirit of giving.
The reception at the TTC Field Ogoja was a festive affair, culminating in a Resilient Leadership Award presented by the Concerned Friends Initiative of Thomas Aruku. The Ikajor Dance Group added a cultural touch with a vibrant dance performance, and the Nigeria Society of Engineers presented a portrait in recognition of Hon. Engr Thomas Aruku’s impactful leadership.
