C’River Assembly Passes Contributory Pension Scheme Bill

The Contributory Pension Scheme Bill 2023 which was introduced by Rt. Hon. Davies Etta, the member representing Abi State Constituency and Deputy Majority Leader of the House, was passed into law by the Cross River State House of Assembly, during a legislative session held on Thursday, November 2, 2023

According to the Lawmakers, the bill aims to establish a Contributory Pension Scheme for public service employees in Cross River State. It received support from nine co-sponsors and was initially presented on Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Following further deliberation, it was read for the second time on Wednesday, July 5, 2023.

The bill’s journey towards becoming law was characterized by a rigorous and thorough examination. It was subsequently referred to the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petitions, and Conflict Resolution for an in-depth study and a comprehensive report back to the House.
